Welcome to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine course on Emergency Preparedness and Response to Pandemics. Our program is designed to provide insights into the critical linkages between incident management systems, incident managers, emergency operation centers, public health emergency committees, and their translation into rapid response teams.
This course offers a unique opportunity for individuals to identify their specific roles and collective responsibilities as part of a team dedicated to addressing epidemics and pandemics. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the Incident Management System and its components, including emergency operation centers and public health emergency committees. Additionally, we will introduce you to essential frameworks such as the International Health Regulation and Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR), which serve as the foundation for effectively addressing pandemics and epidemics.
Join us in equipping yourself with the knowledge and skills needed to respond efficiently and collaboratively to public health emergencies.
