This new BSc.in Biological Engineering program will be an interdisciplinary course that specifically trains engineers who will be particularly useful in entering the biomedical field and supporting the emerging biotechnology ecosystem. Graduates will be well poised to advance such an agenda both in private and public organisations, such as hospitals and biotech companies such as Yemaachi Biotech, Roche, Novartis, AstraZeneca, Sanofi, Waters, etc.
In addition, graduates will be well poised to develop start-ups in the biotech space because of the strong entrepreneurial training which is incorporated into the curriculum. Graduates will be biological engineers capable of addressing issues in other fields, such as biotechnology, bioinformatics, and neuro-engineering, in addition to the biomedical space. Our engineers will also have strong entrepreneurial training to support our graduates in establishing new startups for bringing innovation in these fields.
Course Learning Outcomes
- apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration to the community, its health, safety, and welfare
- design projects and teams capable of communicating ideas and bringing a diverse set of skills to solve problems
- design entrepreneurial solutions to address challenges and find solutions considering desirability and sustainability within the local context.
